New Leadership at the Minuteman Division

New Leadership at the Minuteman Division

This past Sunday, I visited Gloucester to officially install a new Commanding Officer of our NSCC/NLCC unit there.  I am really looking forward to seeing the good things that the unit will be doing.  If you are from the North Shore, it’s a great time to take a look at the “new” unit in Gloucester!  Use the Contact page to send us an email and we’ll get you in touch with them.

In April, I met with the cadets and parents to discuss future plans for the unit, which include a move to the US Coast Guard Station in Gloucester and an improved training program that will give cadets more exposure to military and policing missions.  The unit had drilled at the Gloucester High School for several years but that was no longer a suitable site for the unit’s new mission.  At that meeting, a few parents stepped up and offered to help.  I am very pleased that Mr. Chip Bruce, a Wilmington police officer, agreed to assume command of the unit.

On Sunday, ENS Bruce and I met with the parents again to discuss our next steps.  And after that, I officially presented Ensign Bruce with his orders appointing him to command.  Here are a few pictures (sorry for the blurriness!).
