Computer Science – Python
This course will introduce participants to software development in Python. All classes will be taught in a hybrid environment: 50% interactive lecture and 50% team based team coding projects. Topics will include command line use, version control, computer science theory and testing. Participants who succeed in this class will be well positioned for success in AP or introductory college computer science classes.
Cyber Security (League Cadets)
Cyber Sharks: Dive into Innovation and Digital Defense! In Cyber Tank, students will pitch creative tech inventions with built-in cybersecurity measures to a panel of ‘sharks.’ They’ll also learn the fundamentals of HTML and CSS to bring their ideas to life while exploring hands-on, unplugged activities that build teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Through interactive challenges and expert guidance, students will develop essential web development skills while mastering strategies to safeguard their creations and navigate the digital world securely. Join us to empower the next generation of cyber-savvy innovators!
SEAPERCH/Shipbuilding (League Cadets)
A program called “Boat Camp” teaches cadets about the shipbuilding trades includes the science and construction of vessels. The program is conducted with the partnership of General Dynamics Electric Boat, University of Rhode Island, and the University of Connecticut. The course will consist of classroom instruction, demonstration of skills learned, and tours of several facilities such as a Nuclear Submarine, General Dynamics, and the University of Rhode Island.
