Staff Cadets and Escort Officers Please read the Standard Operating Procedures for Recruit Training New England:

APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

NSCC Recruits all billets are first-come, first served, and will be ‘approved’ in Magellan only upon receipt of all of the following documents (and Magellan request from Unit CO); submit all documents to the COTC through your Unit Commanding Officer:   [Please note – paperwork deadline – 23 June 2023]

  • $300 training fee (Cashier’s check or money order made out to “Sea Cadets TG-NE-02”) with associated Magellan Invoice. No personal checks will be accepted. Mail to Training Group NE-02
  • A completed Fort Devens Visitor Pass Request Form for ANY ADULT wishing to access Fort Devens for drop-off or graduation.
  • CLEAR copy of a drivers license or state/Government issued ID for each Fort Devens Visitor Pass Request Form.

Note:  Recruit billets cannot be ‘reserved.’  Submitting a Magellan request is just that – a request.  A submitted request or a “Confirmed” requests are not final.  Billets will only be finalized (“Approved”) upon receipt of a complete package.

NSCC Staff Cadets – Submit a Magellan request for ND-MA-2401L (10JUL24 – 12JUL24) and RT-MA-2401 (12JUL24 through 20JUL24) to your CO via the Parent Portal.  To apply for a staff billet, submit the following to the OIC at rtc-ne@seacadets.org  [Please note – application deadline: 13MAY2023]

  • RTC-NE Staff Cadet Application endorsed by Unit CO (follow this link for staff cadet billet descriptions).  Download the application and open it in Adobe Acrobat (not your browser) so that you can type in it.

NSCC Escort Officers – Submit a Magellan request for ND-MA-2401L (10JUL24 – 12JUL24) and RT-MA-2401 (12JUL24 through 20JUL24) to your CO.  To apply for an officer billet, please submit the following to the COTC:

  • A copy of your active CPR/AED certification
  • A completed Fort Devens Visitor Pass Request Form for yourself and any adult that will be coming on the base with you at any time during the training.

RTC-NE DATES & TIMES:

  • Staff Cadets & Escorts:  Staff Orientation and staff cadet interviews to be held at USCG Station, Boston Massachusetts – TBD
  • Escort Officers:  10JUL2024; 1000 hours
  • Staff Cadets:  10JUl2023; 1000-1200 hours
  • Recruits:  12JUL2024; Check in between 0800-1200 hours   [Note:  A responsible adult must stay until recruit is completely processed through check-in.]
  • Recruits: Be prepared to perform the PRT as part of the check-in process. [1 mile run, push-ups and plank]. You must be able to pass before your CO approves your orders to RT. For your safety, you will not be permitted to participate at this training if you cannot pass.
  • Graduation:  20JUL2024; 1100 hours
  • Staff Cadets and Escorts: dismissed upon completion of sweep-down: 20JUL2024

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL ESCORT OFFICERS (INCLUDING INSTRUCTORS AND MIDSHIPMEN)

Magellan will not allow Escort Officers to register unless they have completed the Officer Midshipman Study Guide, OPD 101, and Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children training.

As required by Massachusetts General Laws ch. 6, section 172H, and Region 1-4 Instruction 01-2013, all volunteers who will be staffing RTC-NE must submit a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check at the time they send in their Request for Training Authority.  Region 1-4 and RTC-NE volunteers who have already been CORI-checked through their home unit do NOT need to submit another form.

All Escort Officers must be CPR/AED certified.  Any certification (AHA, Red Cross, etc.) will suffice.  Include a copy of your CPR card, valid through at least July 2024, with your application.
